Playing Golden Sun: The Lost Age - Part 2

2020.11.18 18:47 quiter2812 Playing Golden Sun: The Lost Age - Part 2

I was too busy yesterday to play, but I think I'll be able to get another chunk of game done!
-Ran into another group of enemies: a Punch Ant, a Wild Wolf and a Giant Bat. I think I remember the bat from the first game, but I'm not too sure about the wolf. The party ambushed the enemies, and... wow, Sheba's magic hits pretty hard.
-The town's name is... Daila. I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't expect a sitar. The instruments give a very Indian feeling, which is something I don't think was in Golden Sun. Interesting. The theme itself is interesting too, but I don't think I'd listen to it outside of playing the game itself. The NPC say that Daila's the northernmost town in the continent of Indra... I have no idea where Indra is. I think the only continents in Golden Sun we visited were Angara and Gondowan, right?
-All this salt water's probably gonna make life pretty bad for the people here, which... really sucks - especially because it also seems like it got into the well. The description of everything smelling like brine is definitely not appetizing. I'm not sure if this'll get cleaned up on its own or by the villagers... or maybe we have to get some Psynergy that'll dry out the place?
-The lights in the northwestern skies... was probably the lighthouse being lit. That helps in getting the location sorted out.
-Two missing kids... we'll probably have to look for them as a beginning quest. One of them took a fishing pole - maybe they wanted to catch a super rare fish? Also mentions of a shrine for a sea god: we'll definitely visit that eventually. The priest in the cave in the north mentions a Kandorean Temple - another thing to visit, wow. A test? We'll probably have to beat him up, haha. The priest's thoughts say that he hopes Felix and company don't enter the shrine... which only makes me think even more that we'll definitely enter it.
-Oh, a kid thought that the two missing boys were inside the shrine. Sorry, priest.
-Stray thought - I wonder if Sheba'll ever actually address the mind-reading thing with Felix and Jenna like Ivan did.
-Seems like there's a town called Madra, and a pirate called Briggs has been locked away there? I'm betting he's gonna bust out of prison and eventually either fight us or help us.
-Well, I don't see Alex here, so it's time to journey on. There's the shrine and the temple... I wonder which one to go to first. A quick stop in the inn to get Sheba's PP back up and we're off!
-...A Djinni? Huh. Seems like it's looking for its fellow Djinn... so we're gonna take him along, right? I saved beforehand, so I'll try saying no in case there's actually a choice.
-Oh my god, he's really trying to come along. Poor thing. Joke's on you, Djinni, chips suck. Echo eventually comes along, nice! First Venus Djinni, and Felix takes him.
-Going to the shrine first... and there's the two kids. Seems like they suck at throwing ropes - maybe if they'd been born in a town where cowboys existed... One of them mentions that the other was hit pretty badly, but they both seem to be cognizant and speaking fine, which is good. Talking to the one I can talk to doesn't seem to help, and there's nothing I can really see here that could help me get the other kid down... so off to the temple.
-...I got lost and ended up somewhere called the Dehkan Plateau. The XP and Gold yield makes me think I'm definitely too early to be here - so I'm gonna leave for now and head on over to the temple. There was a chest with a Full Metal Vest, though, which is definitely very nice. Giving it to Jenna.
-Made a quick stop in Dalia to heal up the PP and buy things: the best armor I could for Felix and Jenna and a new sword for Felix. Sheba's equipment was much better than the other two's, which is interesting.
-I've gotta say, the game not auto-targeting another enemy after it dies and making the characters defend instead is... an interesting choice. By which I mean, not a choice I like.
-Okay, finally got to the Kandorean temple. The theme's interesting; gives me some PMD vibes, actually. I kinda like it. Seems like Master Poi isn't accepting visitors... so it's time to sneak in, Solid Snake-style. Kraden points out the obvious (and I have a sinking feeling that that's gonna become par for the course), and Sheba Whirwinds the bush away. Kraden comes out to deliver another quip, and we enter the cave.
-Well, we snuck in through a cave - hopefully the party doesn't get detected. Seems like the acolytes can't float yet: not gonna lie, didn't Isaac get an item that gave him a psynergy that did something like that? Lift? Still, I could definitely see a Float psynergy being very useful for puzzles.
-Oh god, I bet we're gonna have to rush in after the monk-in-training. To be perfectly honest, the other two don't exactly inspire much confidence either: the one on the left's got some issues to work out and the one on the right's just a full-blown asshole. Well, nobody there to stop us, so inside we go!
-A Mimic already!? I was definitely caught by surprise, holy crap. The sneaky monster stole more than half of Felix's PP, which made me sad, and Sheba's Psynergy was resisted... but a couple of Fume castings burnt it into a crisp, and the three companions levelled up to level 6! The path seems to be one way only, so I head on up to the first floor (yes, I'm European).
-I spy a Djinn on the right side - but there's that rope and pegs again... I'm guessing that we'll get a Psynergy related to that (Tie? Throw?) and then we'll be able to save the kids in the shrine. The acolyte's on the left side, fallen and defeated; what a shocker. We leave the dummy behind and leap from pillar to pillar. Thank god Sheba's got PP to spare - these Rays are excellent for thinning out enemy groups.
-Getting up the waterfall was pretty finicky - and the next room seems a bit like a puzzle. Probably block one hole so the other comes out with more force? I remembered seeing a chest on the right side all the way back, so I do that first - and bingo! A Mysterious Card, oooh. It changes class to... Pierrot. Huh. This is new. I don't equip it on anyone just yet - not sure what Pierrot does, and my current party's doing pretty well for itself. Still, definitely a nice piece of loot. I wonder what the aisteam vents are doing there - it's not as if they really do all that much. Maybe just an introduction to their pushing ability?
-...If I had to walk across a tightrope above a deep chasm like Felix just did, I would literally rather just go back to Daila and sit there forever. Maybe the Pierrot class could help with that, haha. I remember Move exists after a minute or two and manage to block the air hole that stopped the party from crossing the second rope. Seems like Felix can stand on the ropes forever, unlike in some other games I remember - good for him. I go down the stairs like an idiot before meeting a dead-end, but there's an Amaze ambush before I manage to walk along the edge of the screen.
-I'll get you someday, Mercury Djinni. I wonder when the Mercury adept'll join our party - it's pretty funny that in both games the Mercury Adept's the last one to join, huh. Jenna and Felix have taken a bit of a beating throughout the dungeon, so I use a couple of Herbs to get them all fixed up.
-Whoops, I got Felix burned by the boiling pot. Move solves that, and we go forward to meet... three gorillas? Chestbeaters. Is this the boss battle theme? It's intense from the beginning - very desperate, very hurried. I like it, it gives a very nice sense of danger: the progression of the feeling of threat from Jenna's battle theme to Felix's to the boss' is very nice. It was a slug fest, pretty much - but they were the first boss, and Jenna's Flare Wall definitely helped the most in cleaning up. Jenna got Level 7 for her troubles. Going up the ladder and down the hallway, I wonder how the three adepts are feeling.
-...Whoops, we really did literally hijack the student's test, huh? Kraden's determined that the master's 'perturbed', good for him - but the master clarifies and says that nobody from outside's ever passed the test, which doesn't surprise me if you literally don't accept anyone from outside that isn't your student. The Psynergy's called Lash... which brings back Advance Wars memories, but it's a pretty nifty name, to be honest. Kraden gets huffy when called grandpa - and the old man can detect the flow of energy when he's being Mind Read, which is very interesting. The Lash Pebble is ours - I'm coming for you, Djinni! Also, don't have too much hope, Master Poi: your students range from clueless to shitty.
-A bit of backtracking and some new second-degree burns on Felix from touching the piping-hot cauldron, we reach the Djinni only for it to get mad and start a fight; it doesn't run away, thankfully, but god Sheba's incredibly fragile - I'm not sure if she's Ivan-level, but still. Felix reaches level 7, and we get Fog! Looking at the classes unlocked with the Mercury Djinni... they all seem worse than the mono-element ones. Looking at the Pierrot Psynergy, it gives Mars-element offensive spells, so I give Fog to Jenna and make her a Pierrot. Time to retreat and grab the two kids - Sheba reaches level 7 on the way.
-Well, the two are finally reunited: they're pretty nonchalant about the whole thing, discussing a fast critter (a Djinni?) before going back to Daila because they're hungry. I decide to explore a bit, just in case it's needed for later
-A Jupiter Djinni's sitting there happily... and of course the wooden bridge snaps when I try to get it. Off we go to chase it down. I'm not sure why it's leaving footprints, because I thought it was flying - but hey. After the three-entrances part that I found a bit confusing, the Djinni is trapped between us and a torch, and a battle later (5 physical damage to Sheba's a bit sad), Breath is ours. I don't have the freezing psynergy just yet, so I Retreat.
-Seems like the town's better already: I thought that it'd take much longer to dry up and we'd have to deal with it ourselves or something, but this is fine. The two kids are all right too. One girl's thinking about a cute traveler that's meeting up with the mayor - lady, if it's Alex... I'm soooo gonna judge your taste even if I definitely see your point.
-fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck it's Alex. It's nice to see Jenna and Sheba talk again, and the no-boat thing was expected. I can't help but wonder if Alex is planning something even now; he's probably pissed someone off and is gonna make us deal with his mess. The girls land some nice burns on the Mercury Adept, and he runs off pretty quickly after that - I'm glad for the party that they don't have to deal with him, haha. One of the people inside the mayor's house thinks that the road to the new town's through the plateau I'd stumbled into; time to go there, then. Visiting the inn, I honestly feel awful for the people working there - especially since the guests don't seem to like the effort they're putting in at all. :( Wish there was a way to help them.
-The plateau's 2-step-and-crumble gimmick seems pretty interesting, though the monsters are a bit annoying - a Mini-Goblin kept spamming Herbs, and the girls definitely need better weapons. It's at this time that I realize that the Pierrot's PP is... pretty bad. I still keep it equipped, but I'll probably stop using it when the Mercury Adept arrives. A chest contains a Mint, which I'm very tempted to give to Felix, as his Agility's... a bit lacking. Speaking of Felix, the next screen has a chest that gives him a Themis Axe - it's definitely great, but I wish that the girls could get weapons too.
-Commenting on the Dehkan Plateau - it's a pretty cool area - the grass and various greys stop it from feeling too dull, and it's really cool to have a plateau as an area. I don't think there were any in the first game. I think I remember the theme from the first game, but regardless, I like it a lot! I spy a Mars Djinni on the left - I'll nab you eventually.
-oh god s t o p running awaaaaaaaaay
-Gotta say, I really like these neat optional areas: venturing into the shrine for Breath and now the part below the bridge with a Nut in the chest. It's really nice design: it's making me feel as if I'm really exploring new areas and not just being handheld.
-...woah did the djinni just pound the stake into the ground? mad
-Oh, hey - the axe let out a howl! Nice! Stone Justice is pretty cool.
-...I fell right into the Djinni, oh god - I'm so sorry, can't imagine it was very pleasant to be squished by Felix. It dropped the Pound Cube, though; I wasn't expecting another field Psynergy so soon, but I'll take it! This one's going on Sheba, and I'm moving Lash over there too - her PP pool's double that of the other two.
-We finally get to battle the little menace. Its spells hurt (the thought of doing an armor-less challenge run makes me cringe) and Sheba, fragile as always, ends the battle with 6 HP - but we manage to defeat the sprite, and Cannon finally joins the party. I find it kind of interesting that despite being so involved in the whole journey through the plateau, we weren't actually forced to get him - I'm sure getting the Pound Cube was needed, though. A few screens later and we finally finished traversing the plateau!
-A ship... and a cutscene! Turns out it's Menardi's ship (Rest In Potatoes), and Kraden gets incredibly excited; I see a puddle, which probably means that we'll have to come back later. Jenna points out that it doesn't look like they sailed here, which... yeah, didn't the ship come adrift with the peninsula (Idejima?) when it separated from the land? I'm kinda surprised it managed to drift all the way here without getting destroyed, honestly, but hey. Also, I'm surprised that Sheba saying 'killed' was allowed. I can't get into the boat (and besides, we need the Black Orb that Isaac has) and there doesn't seem to be anything around apart from the puddle, so I leave.
-There's a cave in the way: Indra Cavern. I'm gonna explore it in case it's optional, since the party's in good shape.
-It's... a very small cavern.
-asdlfkjlaks a new summon? wow, um - okay! Okay! Nice! Good thing I entered! Zagan... I'll check it out.
-holy shit axe minotaur
-Okay, shock over - wow, you can unlock new summons in this game? That's pretty damn awesome, seriously! In other news... I'm very lost. I'm gonna follow the dirt trail road for now, because everyone's running a bit low on PP.
-wait what
-there's a Venus Djinni in the forest to the left of a town (Madra?), holy crap. um. good thing I stumbled upon it. wow. I think I'm gonna need a Djinn guide, haha.
-it F L E D. damnit. time to run around for a bit
-All right, it appeared after a bit. Iron is gotten! But seriously, I'm really glad I didn't miss it. Felix gets to be a Knight now with 2 Venus Djinn, which means a nice increase to stats!
-All right, Madra! The theme's very nice: very calming and sweet, which is very nice after the long journey from Daila to here. The citizens of Daila mentioned Briggs the pirate being caught here, and one of them thought of the possibility of his goons being around to rescue him: I'm still betting that he'll bust out and then either help us or fight us. Looks like the people are pretty cautious - can't blame them.
-The pirates are from Champa... never heard of that place before, and they dug a hole that also unearthed a cave system? Pretty crazy.
-Woah, okay, I stumbled onto the Madra Catacombs, and... talk about whiplash. Pretty foreboding piece of music. The enemies are pretty strong here (why are bees around?) and I can't really head in much, so that's another place to remember for later.
-haha nevermind I lied, I found an entrance in the graveyard. The enemies are tough... but there's still a clear path to follow (and I see plenty of evidence that tells me I have to come back later) and at the end there is... a Tremor Bit. Another field Psynergy, wow; this one seems optional, unless I got it ahead of time. Pretty cool. I wonder what it's gonna be used for? Gotta say, if it's optional, then this is pretty damn cool - an entire optional dungeon and an actual field Psynergy waiting?
-I wonder if whoever built the caves or someone with the pirates was an Adept - there was a Lash rope in there, and using it could've allowed the pirates to strike at the heart of the town undetected.
-Ugh, examining the inn's oven is making me want to try out Masala chai, even though I didn't know what it was until a few seconds ago when I looked it up out of curiosity.
-YOOOOOO the top of the inn's got two people that want to go to Colosso... and one of them mentions Isaac! Joke's on you, greenie, Isaac could literally crush your face between two rocks.
-A few people are thinking on the fact that the Champa knew about the layout of the town... so either they sneaked in a few times when nobody noticed, or there was an infiltrator. But at the same time, there's two sailors in a house that say the docked ship isn't a Champa ship. If they're referring to Menardi's ship, then there were only the pirates attacking - but there was someone else that said there were two raids and they were unrelated, so maybe there were two groups? Confusing.
-There's a Mars Djinni in the top floor of a house! I wonder when I'm gonna be able to nab it - it's probably gonna be after I do something for someone.
-Seems like there's a town called Alhafra, and there should be a few ships in there. Alex's probably heading over.
-Wait... Briggs was freed? Aaaaaaaaaaaah - okay, I don't think they outright said it before, but it makes sense. Okay, so Briggs is probably heading to Alhafra to get a boat, and the elder's trying to chase him down. Interesting.
-ugggh I want chicken curry with tomatoes
-Wait what the hell THERE'S A BLACK ORB IN THE ELDER'S HOUSE. We can't grab it, damnit (couldn't we just knock out all witnesses Hitman-style?). That means that there's two black orbs, because I'm sure that the other one's with Isaac. So does that mean that there were other people that can control the boats? Or that there were other boats that can be controlled with the orbs? So the docked ship might not be Menardi's Black Orb ship, it might be someone else's Black Orb ship?
-Seems like there's a prisoner: some people say he's with the pirates, others say that he isn't.
-Piers, he's called. Seems pretty composed - the blue hair reminds me of Alex when seen from the back, kinda, but shorter and more of a darker blue.
-Oh god some people are real asses, huh? The guy outside the prison and now the interrogator... jeez. I understand why they're mad, but come on - listen to your partner.
-Oh crap he's a Mercury Adept! Is he gonna be our party member? Pfffffffff he humilliated the guy. Run off crying, idiot. I honestly feel bad for the guy: if he's innocent, then he's honestly sitting through a lot of abuse without retaliating much.
-Piers can detect us using the Mind Read Psynergy, and talks about his people... huh. He needs the elder to come back? Pretty sure he's on another continent, so good luck, buddy.
-Oh, hey, the nice lady (I think she was the elder's wife?) gave us permission to go to Osenia! Sick!
-There's a bedridden woman in the cave in the back... Mind-reading her tells us about 'eyes shining in the darkness'. Was she attacked? I'm thinking something like a wolf, or a gorgon or something. Hopefully she recovers soon.
-All right, time to rest up at the inn. I also managed to get some nice shiny equipment for everyone, so hopefully Sheba dies to three light breezes now instead of only two.
-Passing through the Madra Drawbridge real quick. The guards name-dropped a few locations - Yampi Desert and Mikasalla. Seems like the only thing to do is to enter the Osenia Cliffs.
-Oh, so this is where the Champa boat is... or rather was, since it's pretty broken now. They can't have gotten too far, then. A chest contained a Pirate's Sword - Felix would benefit much less than Jenna since he's still got the Themis' Axe, so to Jenna it goes. Also, the guy in there's got a good point; if the ship here is Champa, and the other ship isn't Champa, then Piers isn't Champa - so why isn't he free? Hm.
-oh my god there's a dinosaur enemy
-I'm not quite sure where to go now; I know I have to head over to Alfahra in order to get the elder. Just not sure how exactly to do that. For now, at least, all the diverging paths seem to end up in a dead end (hopefully there isn't a Djinni I'm leaving behind - I'm not the biggest fan of the world-map Djinni mechanic, to be honest).
-Right, I found the Yampi Desert. That's something I can do right now - but on the southwest, there's also another path that I can continue... and I did go through it. It was really long, but eventually I found Mikasalla... but I then went back to the Yampi Desert; it's closer to Madra, and I might as well do it now. I'll put it off for next time, though!
For now, everyone's Level 10, and I've got five Djinn: 2 Venus (Echo, Iron), 1 Mars (Cannon), 1 Jupiter (Breath) and 1 Mercury (Fog).
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you'd like in the comments, or tell some tips and curiosities! I'm really liking the game so far, it's a lot of fun; Jenna and Sheba haven't spoken much, sadly, but I'm starting to warm up to them - Kraden, on the other hand... I'm also very curious as to how this whole Piers and two-ships business is going to be solved.

Prophecies of Nostradamus - a channelled solution, part 3
This mini-series outlines the coming turn of the Wheel of Fate for humanity as prophesized by the great occultist and seer, Nostradamus. The source claims Nostradamus was in communion with him and gave him more direct explanations of his quatrains peering into our reality from the higher realms that had to be encrypted at his time because of authorities. I've revealed this here as it sits perfectly with the other materials (over a hundred prophecies) as well as the movements on the world stage. The quatrains of Nostradamus would require the reader to be well versed in latin, greek, history of the world, occult science, astronomy, the body, alegories of ancient and Nostradamus time and so on and can be explained in endless ways as they often are in the lamestream media.

8.2 The world after the Anti-Christ
The religion called after the seas will overcome, against the sect of the son Adaluncatif; the stubborn lamentable sect will fear the two men wounded by A & A. (X-96)
The world is gradually recovering after the Anti-Christ. When he is gone, most of the organized religions will be in total chaos, particularly Christianity. Peace will be the main philosophical viewpoint everyone will agree upon. Therefore I used the phrase «the religion named after the seas will overcome» referring to the Pacific Ocean. The strange name «Adaluncatif» refers to the Anti-Christ. Those who are familiar with the Kabbala will be able to figure out more concerning the Anti-Christ. «The laminate sect» refers to the Anti-Christ and his followers. He will be defeated twice by «A & A»; first by the fighter, the hero, the main one who will rise up to fight against the Anti-Christ (Ogmios). And then he will also be defeated by the genius, who will come later.

https://preview.redd.it/s3t91vgn67z51.png?width=250&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ab87ed3b60cb1001db8f8a2927e3ed5026bec78
From Arta & the country of Thrace, people ill by sea, help from the Gauls; In Provence their perpetual trace and remnants of their customs and laws. (IX-75)

https://preview.redd.it/3qqc5hfo67z51.png?width=350&format=png&auto=webp&s=1eb941c3a074bcbe9422ca60d51cd67ad663c7aa
Europe is trying to recover after the Anti-Christ. «People ill by sea»: firstly, it refers to the fact that the Anti-Christ came over the sea, and so the illness came by sea, so to speak. Secondly, due to the type of warfare the Anti-Christ waged, part of the land and ocean will be poisoned from his weapons, and it will kill off many of the fish and other oceanic life.
His hand finally through the bloody Alus, he will be unable to protect himself by sea. Between two rivers he will fear the military hand, the black and angry one will make him repent of it. (VI-33)
This refers to the downfall of the Anti-Christ’s supreme commander. The battle involved will be an extremely strategic one. «Alus» refers to the misuse of some technology that has not yet been developed. The commander will make a major failure of judgment on the field so the bulk of his forces are captured or killed. «The black and angry one» refers to the Anti-Christ and his reaction to the situation.
When those of the Northern pole are united together in the East will be great fear and dread. A new man elected, supported by the great one who trembles, both Rhodes and Byzantium will be stained with Barbarian blood. (VI-21)
https://preview.redd.it/cdvnakfp67z51.png?width=350&format=png&auto=webp&s=eed0bab42ea02cf778749dc880f8adc7b2794e6c

As long as things look totally hopeless, the Anti-Christ’s power is beginning to give way in certain crucial places. This refers to when those of the northern pole – that is the United States, Canada and Russia particularly, and later on, northern Europe - manage to unite together. Even though the Anti-Christ has taken over all of Asia, after a certain amount of time he’s not able to control Russia. Russia breaks free and unites with those countries that have not yet been conquered. This union, strikes fear into the heart of the Anti-Christ - «will be great fear and dread» - because he can see the beginning of the end where he might fail at this point. «Both Rhodes and Byzantium will be stained with Barbarian blood»; being major regional head-quarters, they will see some of the bloodiest fighting.

8.3 Ogmios - his extraction
Of a name which never held by a French king, never was there so fearful a thunderbolt. Italy, Spain and the English tremble; he will be greatly attentive to foreign women. (IV-54)
https://preview.redd.it/qo6l7drq67z51.png?width=220&format=png&auto=webp&s=bdfc37ec750eaeee7b123a9ea00544c1490b0e37
Ogmios’ extraction is from eastern Europe. His name will sound very strange to French ears. The name Ogmios is a symbolic reference to Celtic mythology. Ogmios was the Celtic equivalent of the legendary Hercules. He is supposed to represent the nemesis of the Anti-Christ. It is through his efforts as a leader of the underground movement that the people rise to resist the Anti-Christ. His birthdate is October 17, 1952. The «fearful thunderbolt» refers to nuclear weapons. «Of a name never held by a French king» refers to the underground leader who will rise to a position of leadership over all of France during the time of troubles.
Since one of his grandparents is from a different country it causes him to have a different name than most Frenchmen, and therefore it’s not a French name. And he says «being attentive to foreign women» means that when he deals with leaders and people of other countries, he’s willing to listen to their point of view as long as the people express it gently rather than trying to force it.
Blood will be split in front of the people, which will not go far from the high heavens. But for a long time it will not be heard, the spirit of a single man will bear witness to it. (IV-49)
When I say «the blood will be split in front of the people», that refers to leaders being assassinated. «But for a long time it will not be heard», refers to the fact that some of the deposed leaders’ struggles for power will occur from within. It will be a long time before the whole story is revealed. «The blood that will not go far from the high heavens» represents the leaders. You must remember that in my time kings are ordained by God, and therefore are considered to be just one step away from God. This event will be closer to the heavens than the everyday things that happen to people.

«The spirit of a single man will bear witness to it», refers to Ogmios who will put things together and realize the full impact of it all. That will fire his determination to be more than just an underground group leader. He will decide to do something to overthrow the Anti-Christ.
Near the Rhine from the Norican mountains will be born a great man of the people, come too late. He will defend Poland and Hungary and they will never know what became of him. (ΙΙΙ-58)
The «great man of the people» refers to Ogmios, the Celtic Hercules. «They will never know what became of him» refers to when he goes underground. He doesn’t want to draw attention to himself. He’ll live the rest of his days in peace and serenity.
Ogmios will approach great Byzantium, the barbarian league will be driven out. Of the two laws the pagan one will fail, barbarian and freeman in perpetual struggle. (V-80)
Any time a great tyrant rises up it’s a matter of cosmic balance that a great hero rise up to balance this. This leader will probably rise from the underground movement somewhere in central Europe and will be generally acclaimed and acknowledged by many countries that are not under the rule of the Anti-Christ, but that are struggling against him. I suppose he’s a priest now, because he has priest’s vestments on, but he’s quite dissatisfied with the church. It doesn’t look like he’s going to be with the church much longer. And it looks like he’s in the city of Prague, Czechoslovakia.
He’s kind of short and stocky, but he has a kind face. He resembles Pope John XXIII. He’s built like him but much nicer looking, and he has much kinder eyes. He has good, full and thick Slavic features. He has a smiling, happy-go-lucky type of face, but he’s very serious and determined to help. He’s a very intelligent man, and he knows how to worm his way around things. He’s a charmer, and he means well. He doesn’t have one negative thought or attitude toward others; In fact, he’d sacrifice anything for other people. I don’t think he is going to be a priest forever. He has the faith and good intentions, but he doesn’t have the negativity that most religious carry. He’s a devoted world server.
8.4 Ogmios' horoscope compared to that of the Anti-Christ
The kingdom and law raised under Venus, Saturn will dominate Jupiter. Law and empire raised by the Sun, will endure the worst through those of Saturn. (V–24)

This quatrain refers to the organization run by the one I have referred to as «Ogmios». This organization will survive through the worst of the troubled times and serve as a basis of future governments after the Anti-Christ had been brought down. The «law and empire raised by the Sun» means that the glory and the positive nature of the sun will be behind Ogmios and help him endure the worst.

I’m trying to explain to you the significance of the line, «will endure the worst through those of Saturn». In order to obtain specific shades of meaning and to be able to translate the depths of this quatrain, consult the horoscopes of Ogmios and the Anti-Christ, paying close attention to the relative positions of the various celestial bodies in them. Also, use the comparisons given in this quatrain to get an idea of the development of this underground organization.

What’s really interesting is that «Saturn will dominate Jupiter» is in both of their horoscopes. Saturn, the co-ruler of the sign of Aquarius, shows up in the Anti-Christ’s horoscope. Venus is in Aquarius in the Anti-Christ’s horoscope and in Scorpio in Ogmios’. The Venus aspects between these two are square to each other which means they have a sense of conflict of purpose. Venus in Scorpio is much more emotional and sensitive than Venus in the sign of Aquarius, which is cool and detached. The Anti-Christ will lack compassion and an understanding of other people, whereas Venus in the seventh house in Ogmios’ chart shows that he’s a much more loving person, even though he might not have personal relationships. He has become spiritually loving to all people. Anytime we have Venus in Scorpio, it goes through a transformation process.
«The Sun will endure the worst» indicates that these are not the best placements for the sun in traditional astrology. The sun is in fall in the sign of Aquarius means – I usually compare it to the time of the year – it’s like the cool, snowy days of January and February. This is when the sun is making its return from the southern latitudes, and that’s why it was considered the Fall. When the sun is in Libra we have equal days and nights again.

Because the night gets stronger during the month of Libra, and Ogmios’ sun is in the sign of Libra, this means the night is descending. In the Anti-Christ’s horoscope the sun is in Aquarius, which is in Fall. This means the sun has moved away and is slowly returning again. These are the darkest times of the year for the sun energy.
«The kingdom and law raised under Venus»: Venusin Aquarius shows he’s going to come across as a very strong humanitarian as he helps the world. He might even use something similar to the World Peace Movement. The Libra planets that show up in Ogmios’ chart are in good aspect to the Anti-Christ’s which shows they are compatible. So Ogmios might start out as a follower of the Anti-Christ, but when he sees the Anti-Christ’s inhumanity, he will separate from him. In other words, Ogmios will believe that this man is trying to make humanity more prosperous, but he will be disillusioned when he sees him in his true light. His aspects show that in the beginning Ogmios doesn’t want to see himself as a leader. He is being led into something he’s unsure of.
He has strong humanitarian principles with his north node in the sign of Aquarius. His spiritual destiny is represented by the north node, showing that he has grown as a soul in previous lifetimes, and now it’s time for him to help mankind. His underground organization is ruled by Scorpio in the seventh house, so he will have a network of partners, friends and key contacts who will be hidden. Pluto in the fourth house shows that his base of operations will be close to where he was born.
9. The Earth shift – The Drawing of the new Map
9.1 The end of the world as we know it
Nostradamus said the world map would appear differently further in the future because he didn’t see the polar caps reforming for several hundred years. It would be a very gradual thing. But then, what’s a few hundred years in the history of our planet?

The earth will shift because it’s a natural thing. If you’re asking me what kind of preparations people could make, one would be the moving of documentation, space information, exploratory information, to an area in the northwest region which will be a safe place. No one can control the spirit of this planet. The planet rebels and shakes, and we see earthquakes and tidal waves that affect his army and bring him to his knees when he is swept away in a flood of water. It will happen very fast. In the spring of 1989 the first volume of this work was off the press. People expressed an interest in the map that Nostradamus had shown to John and they wondered what the United States and the rest of the world would look like after the Earth shift, so we could see the actual shape of the world of the future.

Nostradamus anticipated our questions. He pointed to a large world globe which sat on a nearby table, and indicated he would be able to use that to relay the information to Brenda’s mind. According to him, Brenda should have no trouble sketching the areas on our blank maps as he pointed them out to her on the globe. This is how the maps that are presented in the following sections of this chapter came to be.

Nostradamus also said: «I want to stress that as I’m talking to you (1989), the situation on Earth is particularly vulnerable; you have all the technology as well as the mentality to destroy it at any given moment. Especially the loss of trees and the toxicity of the atmosphere destroy the Earth’s balance to an almost non-reversible level. Without the trees winds are particularly strong, provoking soil erosion, which in turn creates weight displacements and this results in global weather modification and instability. The Earth cannot stand this stress much longer. In general, the whole planet is in distress. And something will have to give to help things get back into balance. In the aim of peace, I myself came to contribute as well as many other earthly and meta-earthly people in these troubled times».
Saturn in Taurus, Jupiter in Aquarius Mars in Sagittarius, the sixth of February brings death. Those of Tardaigne so great a breach at Bruges, That the barbarian chief will die at Ponteroso. (VIII-49)
The Earth shift will take place in the early part of the 21st century. The astrological signs give you an idea of when this event will take place. Many people will leave the planet at that time . The Anti-Christ will still be in power. This is one of the ways a lot of his followers will leave the planet. As a result of the shift there’s a displacement of water. In accordance with these astrological positions given by Nostradamus, two separate charts were drawn up which present two different dates for the Earth shift. Of these the one of 6th February 2002 has passed, however we also present this horoscope here.
The new empire in desolation will be changed from the Northern Pole. From Sicily will come such trouble that it will bother the enterprise tributary to Philip. (VIII-81)
The «new empire» refers to all continents in the northern hemisphere changing before and during the Earth shift. The economics of the world is the «desolation». It will be changed by the catastrophes, which will eliminate much of the population. If a foot of ice melted at the northern cap it would cause enormous flooding. Lakes, rivers, oceans would swell. Although the southern hemisphere will be somewhat less drastically affected, there will still be changes. The last sentence of the quatrain pertains to a bloodline that is descended from a ruler named «Philip». During this time we may be involved in or drawing towards one world government. The control of the wealth and the monetary system is not going to work any more.
In these maps the striped lines are existing large water masses. White areas are existing land. Black areas are remaining land that will be above water after the Earth shift. The continent of Australia is not included in the map because its shape will remain similar to what it is now. The ocean floor between Australia and New Zealand will shift some and sailors will have to relearn the currents. The only country which will grow bigger, mentions Nostradamus is today’s Iceland. In time ice caps will begin to form again at new locations, and the water level will lower. The maps you have drawn show the world with the ice melted. When the poles first shift, the Earth will wobble until things settle down. So it’s difficult to determine exactly where the poles end up. As we will see in the following sections of this chapter, on several occasions, like that of Greece and Italy, there is a difference between Nostradamus’ words and the maps drawn to illustrate the Earth after the axis shift.
9.2 Africa

https://preview.redd.it/ppz4p1al77z51.png?width=337&format=png&auto=webp&s=66c5ac1eca272bc453ae0cabc4a4116d56ade909
It’s difficult to distinguish the specific effects of an axis shift because so many changes will be taking place in the world. There will be changes world-wide at areas that were unknown to explorers of my time, but are known to you. For instance, they’re not very familiar with Asia, and they don’t know anything at all about Australia or Antarctica. Let’s start from the continent of Africa. When the axis shifts it will cause many earthquakes to occur and volcanoes to erupt. Thus, not only will the water rise and some land sink, but some of the land will rise as well. Quite a bit of Africa will be underwater. In some places where there used to be land, there may be some scattered islands. The surface of the Earth won’t remain stable: there will be such stress upon the Earth that its surface will crumble in places like a hard piece of clay. Some pieces will be forced against the others. This will cause certain areas to be pushed higher while others will disappear underwater. Nostradamus then pointed to the area around the great island of Madagascar and was confused over what to call it. The significance of this confusion wasn’t apparent until I did my research. He’s pointing to Madagascar but he’s calling it Zanzibar. The area surrounding it will be raised from the ocean bed because of the shifting of nearby land. I wondered why he ignored Madagascar and focused in on Zanzibar, which is a much smaller island closer to the coast of Africa. I found that there had been trade with Zanzibar even before the Christian era, but Madagascar was unknown. It was discovered in 1500, but was left alone during Nostradamus’ lifetime because fierce Arabs controlled the harbors. The left side of the continent will be composed of many scattered islands. The part in between will be like a sheltered bay, because of the curve of the land and the islands. There will be nothing left in the upper part (the portion that is mostly desert now). It would be similar to the land shelf off present-day North America, which sits just under the water, eventually dropping off into deeper ocean.
9.3 Europe

Europe will be drastically affected by the Earth shift.
At the entrance to Garonne and Baise, and the forest not far from Damazan, discoveries of the frozen sea, then hail and north winds. Frost in the Dardonnais through the mistake of the month. (VIII-35)
https://preview.redd.it/94z8kjkm77z51.png?width=354&format=png&auto=webp&s=9241ad3e7f90b3505738ce9ff390502a22c0dfbc
This refers to conditions that will prevail during the time of the shift. There will be places that should be having spring or summer, yet due to the shift will be getting sleet and snow, and the bodies of water will be iced up … therefore the «mistake of the month»: whoever heard of ice skating in June. The place names I mention refer to places in and around the Mediterranean and Black Sea. Those countries that are used to warm weather will be warm no longer. Iceland, which is not in the map of Europe after the shift, will become larger (!) because of all the volcanic eruptions. Some of the land will be pushed up, but with the earth shifting, the volcanoes of Iceland will erupt quite a bit and gradually build up land. The polar caps will melt and the North Pole is going to shift northwards, back about a quarter down on the other side, closer to Russia and Siberia. Cities such as St. Petersburg [Leningrad] will be underwater. Much of the northern part of Russia, known as Siberia, will be like a very large shallow sea. The contour of Russia will be reshaped due to the land being compressed. This is caused by the rising and sinking of pieces of land. He then referred to the islands off the coast of Portugal. He indicated that land would be pushed up to form more islands in that area. The mountainous parts of Europe, especially the Alps, would form the new shoreline, while most of France and all of the low countries would be underwater. He saw a strange event happening in the vicinity of the North Sea and the northern countries. Due to the shifting of the ocean, there would be volcanic activity in mountains there that are underwater, causing that area to rise upward, forcing the water of the North Sea to drain out. The new shoreline would run on this spine of mountains. In the area of Italy he said the ocean floor would not rise, but volcanic activity would create part of the new shoreline there. Scattered islands would be all that would remain of the country of Greece. Italy and Greece have not been designed in the map of Europe the way they will look after the shift.
9.3a France

«Medius and terra», the Mid-earth Sea or middle of the land – what we call the «Mediterranean» : all my life I have considered this word only as the name of a place that is difficult to spell. I never once thought of his meaning.
Peace and plenty for a long time the place will praise: the fleur de lis deserted throughout the kingdom. Bodies dead by water, they will be brought to land there, waiting in vain for the opportunity of being buried. (ΙV-20)
https://preview.redd.it/f7z2fuhn77z51.png?width=345&format=png&auto=webp&s=12067005ef458f39dd897b18030a2c50b09530df
A part of France will disappear. France as a national entity will be gone because all people will come together because they will want the evil to find them united and because of this so many people will be lost in the deluge.
The heavens foretell, concerning the city of Lyons by means of clear skies and fixed stars, that suddenly the time of change approaches, neither for its good nor evil fortune. (III-46)
Astrologers will know the destruction of the city of Lyons is foreordained, but many places will not be saved during this time. I am sad because I have a strong tie to Lyons in my lifetime, and my beloved Lyons will also go. Lyons was an ancient Roman city. At one time it was the capital Roman city of the province «Plancus», that is why Plancus refers to Lyons. The city was occupied by Munatius Plancus in 43 B.C.E., and became the center of the political rule of Gaul because of its geographical position.
The fatal and eternal order of the cycle will turn in due order. The chains of Marseilles will be broken, the city taken and the enemy at the same time. (ΙΙΙ-79)
«The end of the cycle» is the end of the world as we know it. When the Earth shift and the downfall of the Anti-Christ occurs, there will be battling in the southern European war theater. When it takes place, Marseilles will go as well as the forces of the Anti-Christ - «the city taken» and «the enemy».

2020.11.11 09:15 RustyCrowbarThingy A prolonged semi-vacation turned triggering... fuck

So me and my SO are stuck at his sistefam's place until the end of November. We can't return to our home as planned because one of our housemates caught covid and the two others may have also been exposed. So we're waiting out their quarantine before returning.
For the most part, it's chill. We went over to visit and etc. But his sister's daughters, two energetic and relatively cute kids with pesky yet wholesome personalities who get along with each other surprisingly well, trigger horrible flashbacks to my own childhood. Seeing them cry over simple things or get super excited make my inner cynic want to snap at them for being so privileged and spoiled. But I don't, since that'd just make me exactly like my parents. And that'd be a dick move.
But the worst part is seeing my SO's sister and her husband bicker. Even without the trauma it's the annoying epitome of the heterosexual 'men are from mars women are from venus' dynamic of an emotional woman who cuts people off/jumps to conclusions and a smartass man who's quick to either trolling or getting irritated. But it triggers me when hearing them interact. It reminds me of the constant (even scarier and stupider) arguments of my own parents.
Especially today. It got super passionate cough to the point of them screaming over each other and throwing around phrases like "I'VE BEEN DONE WITH YOU" and "WE'RE DIVORCING."
Apparently this kind of blow up has happened to the two of them before. None of my fucking business but this stupid ptsd flashbacking seems to believe otherwise! Also
They individually are alright people and do pretty good at handling their kids and the kids love them back/are developing a lot more normally and unashamedly themselves. Which already makes their situation at least twice as much more secure than my own experiences. Yet
I could foresee their kids growing up more aware and then developing problems and resentment, thus the cycle of messed up continues. I hope not, but whee my mind went there! Like it's a debbie downer trying to place bets on it happening
I dissociated to power through my telecommuting work, a creative project, and played hollow knight within the span of 8 hours to the point of being dehydrated and holed away. At the time I was doing all I could to not lash out at someone or hurt myself.
My boyfriend also showed concern and concluded that thing was none of our business. He proceeded to nap and also play video games with his friends. His own way of dealing. He tried to smooth things over by chilling with his sister.
He's super loving and supportive to me. We're a relatively young couple who live together and have yet to do the marriage and moving into our own house. We've dated for 7+ years and have been friends 3 years prior to that, and we're like partners in crime who light up each other's brains and lives.
But a part of me thinks our current wholesomeness is naiive bullshit and that we too will become fucked up like his sistehusband in the future. I've voiced this concern to him multiple times.
Though he tries to comfort me and reassure me through my cptsd, reassure me about the future, and I'm also working on myself, I have the nagging feeling that I'll inevitabily fuck up everything and cause him to finally snap. It sucks because he's a great person in spite of having faced his own string of hardships. I kind of envy/resent him for that.
I made an attempt to have fun. I was actually more productive than usual. And I currently am taking care of the hungedehydration/headache. But given how I shut myself away and ended up feeling shitty anyways, I can't see this as a victory. It disturbs me how this experience reminded me of my overachieving childhood/student days.
Blehhh

2020.11.05 11:49 FireSail Are Tauruses and Libras having a relatively easier 2020 than other signs?

2020 has been emotionally draining and rough on a lot of people. But anecdotally I’ve noticed that Tauruses and Libras (including myself) that I know seem to be having a better 2020 than most people - things like starting new career paths, quitting smoking, or ending toxic relationships or finding new partners.
Is there anything to explain this? I was wondering since both are ruled by Venus if there’s a link.
Conversely I’ve noticed that a lot of people on the Scorpio to Aries part of the zodiac wheel (opposite the half that spans Libra to Taurus, bounded by Mars) have been seeming to have it particularly rough — emotional breakdowns, business failures, run ins with the law (my cancer friends have been emotionally sensitive wrecks but otherwise fine from an outside perspective). Any insight as to an explanation for that as well? Find it weird that that half of the zodiac, with Mars ruling the two ends, is eating it so badly.

2020.11.02 21:27 a_shadow_of_yor "What is happening?!" Prelude to Beyond Light: Bungie Vidoc - Forged in the Storm

Major Note: Pre-Expansion Speculation All Below

Disclaimer: Before you read ANYTHING in this post, there's a few things you need to check out. I know I said I wasn't sure if I'd do one of these again, but the need presented itself and everyone is buzzing about this, so a round-up was deemed necessary.
Since this is being written prior to Beyond Light's release, we'd like to remind everyone that this is all SPECULATION. It's been a busy week and a lot of discussions have been held: this doesn't contain all of the speculation we've seen, just some of the concepts reinforced by the lore.

Speculation Summary Index

This is an overview of everything we're about to get into in order:

The Foreshadowing of Stasis and Variks's Sacrifice

We know that the Pyramid is offering ancient power to us on Europa and it is assumed that we will gain Stasis by interacting with the Europan Pyramid. Some of you know where this is going, but we see three Guardians walking towards a Veiled Statue on the Europan Pyramid. This is reminiscent of when Eris approached the Veiled Statue on the Lunar Pyramid and many have referred to that moment as the moment Eris accepted the power of the Dark.
Now, towards the end of this vidoc, we see Eramis assault Variks and then Eramis's soldiers surround Variks with one pointing an arc spear at him. This reinforces Variks being seen as a "prisoner," but there's more that support this claim:
Charon's Crossing: "The site of Europa's communication center and the origin of a distress signal sent by Variks"
[Trailer Cutscene] Variks: "My kind must survive. Please send help."
Eramis most likely reprimands and imprisons Variks, because of the Exo Stranger taking the Splinter of Darkness from Variks and this cutscene from the Story Reveal Trailer backs up this concept. However, that distress signal Variks sent won't be his last message to us: it seems as though Variks will be in contact with us again and aid us against Eramis's forces.
However, Variks has done this before, specifically to Skolas. Variks had sent one of Uldren's Crows a message, which revealed Skolas's plan to assault the Awoken fortress at Cybele. Variks's decision allowed the Awoken to ambush and capture Skolas, and end the Reef Wars.
Unrelated side note: a lot of people have shown concern for Mithrax's lack of representation during the Beyond Light releases and while we're all rearing for more from our Fallen Ally, he has been mentioned in the Beyond Light Collector's Edition in a Vanguard Report.
9. Europa is a traditional stopover for Fallen raiders tanking up on reaction mass. Mithrax, VIP #3987, relays vague reports of a taboo no-go area around the Golden Age.
This doesn't tell us much, but it does convey that the Vanguard are working with the House of Light at this stage.

A New Personality: Shaw Han

Unless you've been living under a rock, Shaw Han's identity has been confirmed: Shaw is NOT Uldren. Shaw is a Vanguard Operative, but what's more interesting is the armor he's wearing: Young Ahamkara's Spine and Strides of the Great Hunt.
Shaw having this armor may imply that he is a veteran of the Great Ahamkara Hunt, and this would also parallel the first season Shaw is featured in: "Season of the Hunt" - coincidence? You tell me.
Also, there will be two quests called "Vendetta" and "Schism" and one includes finding a character named "Maeve:" this doesn't appear to have anything major to note immediately, other than we'll be assisting Shaw rescue missing or distressed Guardians.

The Crow + The Awoken's Biblical Reference

So, there's this Guardian known as "Crow" or 'the-Reborn-Awoken-once-called-Uldren-Sov.' Uldren's betrayal of Cayde created a schism that is still felt throughout the entire Guardian community, but now we are finally unveiling and addressing his newfound identity.
What's interesting is that the Paladins knew of someone named Crow Crow's existence, but not who he was, and Spider was looking for Uldren as well for a time. Also, Crow is sporting the Spider's Insignia on his armor indicating the Spider's influence on Crow and possibly his 'doing business' with the Spider. Later, the Guardian will confront the Spider about not being made aware of Uldren's reappearance.
Here's where it gets interesting: Crow wields the Awoken sword, "Abide the Return," which represents an ironic message to Guardians that roughly means: 'endure, tolerate, or accept the reappearance of the man who killed Cayde-6.'
This plus the consequential use of "Prodigal" in reference to Crow mixed with his genesis feels intentionally biblical: Uldren/Crow is an example of the Awoken's story of mercy and mirrors the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
While the Spider and the Guardian are exchanging words, Spider's henchmen point their arc spears at the Guardian and a third Guardian to the left of Crow has drawn his weapon on the Spider. This is a heated moment, but not one we didn't see coming.

Xivu Arath and the Cryptoliths

Since we just talked about Shaw Han, Bungie informs us that he's investigating what the Hive are up to in the Cosmodrome. While they mentioned a return of the "Will of Crota" (Omnigul) D1 Strike, they never explained how it would return and it seems like we have an answer.
"The Disgraced" will feature an enemy called Navota and showcases the lead up to the Omnigul Boss Encounter from Will of Crota. If that wasn't enough, there's a Vanguard symbol on the Mission Title and not a Blue Crown, meaning that this should being falling under Strikes.
These Hive are speculated to be of either Savathûn or Xivu Arath's broods. Since Xivu Arath has been namedropped, the stronger of the speculation suggests Navota will introduce Xivu Arath's plot for this upcoming season: corrupting Cabal and Fallen using Hive Cryptoliths to fuel Xivu's army. I've seen a lot of confusion about why Xivu would need another army, and really it just comes back to Xivu being a God of War: this is what she does to gain her tribute and feed her worm.
Bare in mind that we will be partnering up with the Crow and Osiris to take down the Hive Celebrant that's corrupting these Cabal and Fallen. Alongside this, Savathûn is preparing her final plans for what we can only assume will be her big debut next year during "The Witch Queen."

Why are the Cabal cooperating with Guardians?

Have you ever considered that we would work alongside the Cabal? What's more interesting is who met with these Cabal: Commander Zavala and Osiris. But why? The Cabal have a hologram of a Pyramid and two possibilities come to mind:
  1. This is the Europan Pyramid and the Cabal have intel on the new Fallen Empire; or
  2. The Cabal's forces have been hit hard because of the Pyramids taking over three major planets they had a presence on: Mercury, Mars, and Io.
Remember that the Cabal have an interest in the Pyramid's power, especially since they presumably failed to capture any coalesced Darkness from the Ionian Pyramid's offering. One explanation for this negotiation could be a broadcast similar to the Skyburners' signal during the Taken War on Phobos.
The Cabal may be challenging the new Fallen Empire, but may be failing due to the Fallen's access to dark power, which warrants Zavala's presence for the next front in the war. Also, Cabal forces are also being corrupted by Xivu Arath's Cryptoliths, which supports Osiris's role in Season of the Hunt.
Another interesting note is that these Cabal are wearing Red Legion (Blood Guard) armor and Eris remarks about how the remaining Cabal will either join Calus or Caiatl. Calus isn't necessarily our ally and we don't know what his intentions are since the Pyramids appearance in Sol.
It's not unreasonable for Caiatl to want revenge for killing Ghaul and shattering the Red Legion. Amtec would also not cooperate with us because she is seeking revenge agaisnt the Guardians for defeating her sisters: Niruul, Ozletc, and Tazaroc, along with their joined state, Inotam. This begs the question: who are these Cabal working for?

Who do these Cabal belong to?

There are 3 working theories: Or (2) No one formally, but themselves.
A Cabal deserter, hunched against the wall in a baggy pressure sac, sells the location of Red Legion arms caches for lodes of raw Glimmer.
Cabal deserters go as far to even put bounties on other Cabal and some Red Legion deserters even sought out Calus, but not all who got an invitation from the Emperor were accepted.
Ghost: Transmitting now. Cayde! I'm picking up a planet-wide broadcast. "Red Legion 7th Company has failed to secure Vex data. Their invitation to join the Loyalist regime is hereby rescinded." There's more. "The rest of you still have a chance to prove yourself. I offer you a life of… opulence?"
So, one possibility is that these are deserters and may be giving this intel to the Vanguard for a reward. Or (2) the obvious option: these Red Legion are loyal to Caiatl.
Our enemies are turning to the Darkness. The Red Legion is broken; the Almighty destroyed. The remaining Cabal will either join Calus's death cult or seek his daughter, Caiatl.
While Caiatl herself may not be interested in cooperating with Guardians, there is only 'victory or death' for the Cabal and without victory, they can't return home. While the Red Legion's territory has been compromised by the Pyramids, you could argue that the Red Legion's attention has shifted off Guardians and that they possibly are announcing a temporary peace treaty.
[u.2:02] The Cabal don’t even have a word for “retreat.” They didn’t run; they’ve moved onto strategic targets.
Another possibility is that the Red Legion are in a state of survival and are strategically redirecting their attention possibly in a way that can also benefit Guardians. Or (3) These are Calus's Loyalists under the guise of the Red Legion.
Osiris: Without its leader, does the Red Legion remain united under a shared purpose? Or has the deposed emperor slipped his followers into their ranks?
With the death of Ghaul, Calus's triumph over Val Ca'our and destruction of his fleet, and Caiatl's absence in Sol, Calus may have influenced the remnants of the Red Legion in Sol, so much to the point that the Psion Flayer Sisters collected Light and offered it to Calus.
Osiris: The Light they have collected here is but a remnant of the whole. Information is scattered throughout various signals… but… they have offered the bulk of their prize to Calus. The Legion may be attempting to buy their way back into the Empire. Interesting.
While we don't know exactly what Calus's plans are, we do know that everything is not what it appears to be on the surface.

The Cause of the Change in Vex Behavior

One of the hot topics that has been circulating since the Beyond Light Story Reveal is if this new Vex Model is are designed for combat, and not construction or integration. These Vex seem to be optimized for fighting, which is reminding people of when Calus mentioned 'warrior Vex.'
Also, one of Ikora's Hidden suggests the Vex on Europa have a different objective than what we are accustomed to seeing in a Hidden Report from the Beyond Light Collector's Edition.
Unlike all other Vex presences on Venus, Mars, Mercury, Io, or Nessus, there is no sign of major construction. This suggests a Vex strike force, rather than a permanent presence. What did they want? We have fought Vex before, and early aggression against their designs has always proven critical.
But, why are the Vex being aggressive now? Well, Osiris previously mentioned: "to seal shut the passage into the Forest would breed far more harm than good." He also mentioned that "sealing the Infinite Forest could have drawn unwanted attention from within the Vex Network."
While we attempted to persuade Brother Vance to evacuate Mercury, he discovered a way to seal the Infinite Forest from within.
"Quantum cracks yawn in the Forest where echoes of Vex, Hive, Cabal, and Osiris swirl in a gyre. Strike these stress points, and I could seal the Forest from within."
Later, Vance would seal the Infinite Forest with himself in it and this is what causes a shift the Vex's attention.

2020.10.15 12:17 Haughtamale Need some insight into my boyfriend and I's placement

Hello, people of reddit! I'm pretty into astrology but I know there must be others here who know much more than I do and that can offer more insight into our charts.
I'm honestly so in love with my boyfriend. We're passionate, creative, independent individuals. But I also feel like I can trust him and we're super sweet together. The sex is bomb. 🔥 We have mutual interests and goals in life and we both seem very committed to making this thing work. We want to head in the same direction. Although.. we oftentimes are not on the same page. I'm more of a spontaneous go-getter, happy go lucky type, and he's brooding and serious and dark, and sometimes, just a plain drag haha. I do love him but that definitely gets in the way sometimes. My last partner was a gemini ( I'm an aries) so we were like best friends and laughed about everything and nothing was too serious, so this seems different for me. Intense in many good ways, but also, like, I wish my dude would chill the fuck out and relax and enjoy life. Lol anyway, here we go. How can we make this thing work out based off of our charts? Cause he's my honey and I think he's the best most sexy/ sweet/ smart lover there is :) Any recommendations are welcome!
My placements: sun - aries, moon- cancer, rising- pisces , venus- taurus. My mars is in aries as well.
My lovers placements: sun- scorpio, moon- aquarius, rising- sagittarius, venus- capricorn. His mars is in scorpio too.
Oh, we've been dating for two years. The only arguments we get into is him being kind of negative and judgmental and stubborn. And me being like, "life is amazing and there are so many opportunities, let's do whatever we want!!", And then him replying with like an hour long rumination sesh. Ugh. Lol

2020.10.12 19:40 Aquariuslilith21 Triple air sign + fire sign compatibility

Hi :) I've a gemini sun and moon in my 4th house and Aquarius rising - however through my natal chart there are only 4 planets not in an air sign (venus in taurus 2nd house, mars in sag 10th house, pluto and midH in sag 9th). I've only been trying to understand my natal chart more lately, and I started looking into previous partners charts and every SINGLE one has heavy fire influences. I'm talking Sag and Aries stallions left, right and centre. I just wondered if any other triple air signs/generally heavily air influenced folk have been more drawn towards fire signs and if there's some form of astrological explanation for this?? 🖤

Looking through the aspects they had about 4 square aspects and I had 14!!!! Was i born to suffer? is this why my chart looks like a pentagram??? Pls advise.

2020.09.27 02:32 ayesh2000 I think the universe might be trying to tell me something.

WARNING VERY LONG POST:
It all started when I was showing my friend a YouTube video of a person who I am going to call A. We only watched a little bit of the video but she said that we act a lot alike. I didn’t notice it before until then and something just kind of clicked for me. It surprised me that I didn’t notice it before.
That’s when i started noticing these synchronicities
We both have 3 sibilings
I noticed on A’s Instagram page he has posted MULTIPLE pictures of him and his cats that look exactly like some of the pictures that I have of me and my cat that are on my camera roll. Same pose and angle. I’ve had multiple friends look at the photos and they agreed that they look the same.
Then yesterday I impulsively decided to dye my hair red. After I’m done dying my hair I go on Instagram and find out that he also decided to dye his hair red that day too.
Then i was watching this girl I’ve been subscribed to on YouTube for a couple of years now and she does general tarot card readings and did one called “when will I meet my soulmate and who are they.” I got to choose two piles bc one answered when I’m seeing them and the other answered who are they.
She interpreted the pile and said if you are young (I’m 20 so I’d say that I’m young) you will meet them in 1-3 years.
Then she moves onto The pile that answers who and things start to get creepy.
She said that this person is going to have many creative talents or gifts. They have some sort of musical talent or gift. She feels like that they are going to have a lot of gifts and talents that they translate through some sort of platform.
A is actually apart of a music group at an entertainment company. The groups concept is that they have an unlimited amount of members divided into multiple sub units based in various cities. The entertainment company also trains models and actors. They also dance, sing, rap, compose and write music.
She goes on to say that we have the same type of purpose together and she does feel like we are going to work on a project together.
I am also what people would say talented in the arts like drawing, photography, designing. I was just asked by a friend if I would like to be head designer of her clothing company and they plan to make it a world wide company based on inclusiveness. Mind you A will also do photoshoots for magazines and a couple of the members of his music group are ambassadors for a couple of brands. They also will do ads.
Next she picks up a have faith card and says that if you haven’t met this person yet the angels are telling you to have faith and that this connection is going to change your life for the better and really get you inspired and for those who do know this person don’t loose hope in the connection because for some it might be a little bit difficult she said she heard this person may not be ready for settling down or not ready to work on this big life purpose when you meet them. They are not ready to see it. She feels like the person watching is going to be the more spiritually aware one of this connection. But this person does have a big gift a big calling and feels like I’m going to have to be patient when I meet this person or if I have met them already be patient.
She pulls out the gossip card and said that they probably listen to everybody too much and that they have to trust their own intuition. She feels like this person really does consider peoples feelings and one thing I do have with this connection is trust. They will always think highly of you, they will always talk very highly of you.
He is a libra (I feel like these are very much libra qualities)
Also signs you are going to see before you meet this person are crosses because this person is very spiritual at their core. She said that she heard for some that this person may be in denial of their spiritual gifts or abilities
and 22 that I might be seeing 222 a lot. You might meet this person at age 22 or 29 or in between those ages this person might be between those ages when you guys meet but she feels like those are going to me significant time frames for the both of us or ages or they could be born between the 22nd and 29th. She sees those numbers as being significant.
He was born the 28th of September. I was born the 26th of April. We are about one year apart.
She also explains that we might have an affiliation to nature and traveling.
He travels a lot due to his music group.
She pulls out the teacher card and said that we are destined to be teachers of some kind. Either one of us could be teachers of some kind or we could teach each other a lot of different things.
When she said that it reminded me of this one video of him teaching one of his group members how to play the drums.
Feels like this person could have a lot of third house and ninth house energy. She sees Sagittarius energy coming in as well.
Said that this person definitely has the ability to communicate knowledge. This person has the gift of communicating that’s why she feels like they definitely are a talker with the teacher card, communication card and gossip card this person definitely likes to talk or communicate With their throat chakra. And definitely feels like this person has some sort of knowledge about something that they want to share and they have like a gift that can help a lot of people I’m hearing that they are also very logical as well. The chemistry card came up and mentioned like what she said before that this persons strong suit is that they are a good communicator and that I definitely will be hearing from them when I meet them and if we are ever in a falling out this person can hold a bit of a grudge and may withdrawal from communicating other than that they definitely like to talk so if you haven’t met anybody that likes to chatter then it’s probably not this person.
His group members say he is extremely chatty. One said that on a car ride home he kept on talking so he just put his earbuds in and pretended to listen to him. Also I heard that libras can hold grudges
She said that this person could also have Virgo in their chart as well. This person is very very work oriented. They are going to be very interested in what I do as well even if it’s very different. This person is very insightful and they give a lot of good advice. She said that we might indirectly help each other inspiring each other and keep it low key but this person is still there to help you discover your purpose vice versa. Pulls the Magician card and said that they are going to take a lot of action towards you they are going to be super excited about meeting you I want to be around you a lot. Also with judgement card this person is going to go through some sort of awakening either before meeting you while meeting you or after meeting you. Some of you guys might know this person and are in seperation they are going through an awakening right now or right before they meet you. She feels like this person is meant to be spiritual with the faith card and without faith this person is just not going to be happy.
I know that twin flames have stages and I think that it’s possible that she might be talking about the yearning stage.
2 of wands comes up and thinks that we are destined to work together she sees a partnership of some kind. She sees that it might start off like helping each other With your purposes and then it might turn romantic or it may start off romantic but then later help each other behind the scenes with your purpose. Lots of motivation in this relationship lots of fire and definitely the type of connection that gets you going in your career. You guys are definitely going to inspire each other to Be better, to do better, even if this person does not have the same line of work as you They are still going to want to do a good job to impress you, you guys may give them good advice and they might bring it to work.
A kind of has to be very work oriented for him to be apart of the group he is in. They constantly work and practice. It’s how she said that we would start off helping each other because before I saw this I was planning on writing a letter appreciating all of the things him and this group have done for me (indirectly) and I wanted to give back to at least one so I’d give them my contact info so if they ever need help with anything or need someone to talk to I wanted to let them know that I am always there for them (I also explained that I don’t want them to feel forced into this and that I don’t actually expect them to reply I’m just shooting my shot to see what happens.) I added in the letter that if he does want to do this that we might even end up helping each other.
She said that Taurus energy is in here too as well this person probably has strong rising sun or moon like earth in their chart. And Felt like that’s why when they meet me they are not going to want to let me go. We are going to inspire each other to manifest more and She just saw this connection being significant. She Said if I haven’t met them yet keep affirming and manifesting and that the law of attraction can possibly affect this connection. Then 6th of house energy showed up and she said we are both dedicated to our work. She pulls out the imprisonment card and the number twenty nine came up. Says it’s really significant in the relationship. 2s are about partnership and 9s are about traveling and that Sagittarius energy and learning and teaching so She feels like we could partner up and tech and help each other by partnering up. And nine is a humanitarian number as well so She felt like we both are going to work together but we both have our own humanitarian aspects . Said that we are really going to enjoy getting to know each other and this is a connection that is really going to last. Said that we may start off as friends or decide to be friends first. Someone definitely has a more wounded inner child than the other. Said that this person is going to be crazy about you upon meeting you. She goes through a bag and pulls out charms and letters for initials. Said that this person has Leo energy, maybe some Capricorn energy, and Virgo energy again, got Sagittarius energy too, this person is supposed to be optimistic. The word bud came in and she couldn’t help but think someone may smoke weed a lot. Someone here either or could have a lot of anxiety and they self medicate. And then she said we got an e and an f.
Yes I smoke a lot of weed and EF are my initials.
Then I look at one of the comments to see that someone commented about me going through the akashic records
I didn’t know what an akashic reader was or these records. I looked it up and was reading an article talking about the history of it . one of the earliest records of it was by a women that said she learnedly from Tibetan monks who said the records can be found in the “akasha” or “ether”. Why is that the music group that this person is in making a big group project where the concept is the “ether” or “akasha” and the past and the future? They came out with the concept video yesterday
His chart: libra sun Taurus moon Libra mercury Leo in Venus Sagittarius in Mars
My chart: Taurus sun Aquarius moon Aries Mercury Aries In Venus Taurus in mars Capricorn rising
But anyway could you guys please give me your insight on the situation? Am I really seeing things correctly?
Edit: I’m also an empath! And have had dreams that predicted future like my moms marriage.

2020.09.24 18:44 xenizondich23 Spoiler Free Review The First Sister by Linden A. Lewis - 2020 Debut Novel

I normally don't share my reviews here, however this is a 2020 published and debut novel from Linden A Lewis and I feel it needs more sharing!
Goodreads link: The First Sister (The First Sister Trilogy #1) by Linden A. Lewis
Bingo Squares: Novel Published in 2020 (HM), Optimistic (HM), Chapter Epigraphs (HM), Feminist, Politics (HM), (Potentially: Climate Fiction as Earth is not longer habitable due to destroyed climate; Canadian - I have no idea)
TL;DR: A space-based futuristic take with very wonderful characters you'll love to see overcome their own problems and try to make the world better at the same time.
I finished the last third of the book in one sitting, my mind a whirlwind being blown over and over again thanks to all the reveals the text gives us. I'd say this book does a great job of revealing the characters, the story, the world bit by bit as we go on. Phenomenal writing, that.
There are 3 main characters the story is told from: First Sister, the mute head of the religion on the spaceship Juno; Lito val Lucius, a physically damaged elite Icarii soldier separated from his long-term partner Hiro. Interestingly, it is Hiro who is not seen on page as the story is being told from First Sister and Lito's first person's perspectives, but Hiro's chapters are voice recordings from the past.
First Sister is beautiful, mute, threatened constantly by her surroundings: she was forced to be a part of the Sisterhood (a glorified religion serving sex slaves up to the Gean soldiers). A lot of her story revolves around her finding ways to secure her safety, and that being taken away or diminished in some way. First Sister is a bisexual woman who finds herself falling in love with Juno's new captain Saito Ren, whom she is also told to spy on for her Sisterhood.
Lito is scarred inside and outside. Together with his partner Hiro, they barely survived The Fall of Ceres a year prior. The trauma from both that battle on Ceres and also being separated from Hiro (they were previously connected via neural implants) makes him a very compelling character to follow: he is not willing to give up or give in to his pain. Granted, part of that is using his neural implant as a crutch to wipe away his emotions.
Hiro, a genderqueer character, is someone we mostly see through Lito's eyes: the young child at the Academy, later on we hear of their abusive childhood through their recordings. It's not until they appear on the page that we see how much they have also been affected by The Fall of Ceres; and it's pretty different to all the other characters.
The Fall of Ceres effected everyone in this story. I was surprised how much, since at first it seems like such a personal battle that Hiro, Lito, and Saito Ren went through. And that speaks to the phenomenal world building. At first I had very strong Expanse vibes: there are two main forces opposed to one another (the Geans controlling Mars and Earth on one side and the Icarii living on and mining Mercury and Venus). But then the Asters are introduced, and we hear of smugglers operating outside these two groups. Plus there are the AI that heavily trounced humans in a previous war and cut off their outward expansion past the inner galaxy planets. I am looking forward to seeing a lot more of this whole interplay in future books.
A main point of contention between the aforementioned sides is how the Icarii have a monopoly on technology and especially gene editing: they have the neural implants that allow for elite fighters and also to control your emotions; they all have perfect youthful bodies (often with very colorful eyes and hair) from constant modifications; they create amazing medicines; they have highly advanced space ships and weapons. The Geans (as part of their religion) eschew body modifications (including the use of prosthetics) due to this... and yet as the story progresses it's revealed how often they actually do have the same tech: they scavenge a lot of Icarii tech after battles, and super spoiler: they also have neural implants being used. There's a strong sense of moral superiority within the Gean people.
I really loved this story. There is an immense amount of world building, and yet it never felt heavy handed as most of it was revealed as the plot moved forward. The story had great pacing; most of the story progresses as 1 chapter from First Sister's perspective, then 1 from Lito's and then a recording from Hiro. It slightly annoyed me, since I wanted to stick with one perspective for longer than we were given. However as their timelines converge towards the end of the story it makes sense for them to be written like this. Plus, it gives us a balance of not thinking 'x side is super evil and I hope y will kill them all!' It's remarkably easy to feel for all sides of this conflict.
This book not only had great queer characters, but also had one of the better mental illness / trauma representations I've read. There are a few scenes were characters are literally losing their minds from the trauma they experienced and it's very realistic. Plus almost every character has some sort of mental or physical trauma which is so realistic for this fraught world.
I have a lot more I could write about this book, but I don't want to dive too much into spoilers. So I'll just say, if you like great character driven stories, with some different world building, non-human like people, visiting a bunch of different planets, seeing some neat cultures, and enjoyed The Expanse, you'll probably love this book.
CW / TW: there are no graphic sexual abuse scenes, however it does explore the dangers of rape culture and sexual assault. Includes violence, death and graphic injury, amputation, PTSD and trauma, denial of bodily autonomy in various ways (prostitution, plastic surgery, neural implants, experimentation, gender expression), blackmail, execution, untreated mental illness, dysphoria, implied torture, and emotional child abuse.

2020.09.07 14:44 krismichiko Interesting points in synastry?

I've been really into synastry for a while and have kind of had fun trying to figure out how aspects play out in real time, and which ones are the most powerful. I have a list of the ones that I've felt/noticed the most:
That's pretty much all I have 😅 Sorry for this novel of a post, lmao. What other synastry aspects have you guys noticed? How do they play out in real life?

2020.09.04 13:13 krismichiko Sun square Pluto synastry?

I have Sun square Pluto in synastry with everyone in my age group, making it pretty difficult to enter a relationship without having to overcome difficulties with domination and/or overwhelming intensity. I hope this doesn't sound conceited, but it seems like they feel so strongly for me that they have to hold themselves back around me in order to remain in control of themselves. I also often feel quite uneasy since they seem to know exactly how to act and what to do in order to get under my skin. At the same time, I feel as though I have more control in relationships with this aspect and take the lead in most situations.
One person in particular has his Pluto squaring my Sun EXACT, and it's by far the most intense and heavy relationship I've had so far. We get each other without having to say anything, we've confided in each other about things we normally would never do with others, and we often experienced jealousy over the smallest things that the other would do with other people. Even though we're pretty independent people separately, we tend to lean toward codependency and possessiveness at times (more on his end than mine). Right now we're friends but there's still that feeling of attraction. (His Venus sextiles and Mars trines my Pluto as well)
Has anyone else experienced the feelings of Sun square Pluto synastry? If so, how were your experiences similar and different? What was it like for you and your partner?

2020.08.22 21:26 Jkid789 The Heart and its Darkness: Part 2

Hey Guardians! Here is the next installment of Iden's journey. As always, comments, suggestions, and questions are of great help. I hope you enjoy it.

The Heart and its Darkness: Part 2
The air on Venus was cold and dry. A dead environment that fumed with sulfur at every step. In the far distance, Iden-4 and his fireteam witnessed the lush flora that blossomed in the ancient ruins of the Ishtar Sink. Somehow, despite all the Darkness here, life thrived and continued.
A soft gurgle brought him back to the problem at hand. He looked down to the incapacitated Vandal struggling under his bloodstained boot. Berrus, despite being a Guardian for just as long as Iden, had yet to find herself on Venus and needed to upload herself to the vehicle grid to allow her sparrow to transmat. Unfortunately for the Vandal clawing at Iden’s leg and the rest of its team, the only Guardian outpost near their fireteam’s drop site had been in the middle of the House of Winter’s patrol zone.
“What’s your progress?” Iden looked over his shoulder as he flicked a knife into the Vandal’s skull ending its suffering.
“Just about...Done.” Berrus’s Ghost, Codi, said a little embarrassed that the uplink took so long.
“Good.” Iden reached out with his hand and summoned Ordis, “Where to next buddy?”
“The Vanguard reports say the increased Vex activity came from far below the Ishtar Academy. Maybe we’ll pick up a signal there?” Iden nodded, and a few seconds later, the trio were boosting themselves on sparrows along the Venusian greens.
The fireteam traveled for miles across the surface. They passed under overpasses and through tunnels. The House of Winter had expanded themselves far and wide across the continent, and the team found themselves in and out of their territory, passing by patrols and hideouts. But to Iden’s surprise, there were no Vex to be seen. And that had him worried. The last time he had visited this planet, those murderous machines had been the only things he and Adryel had come across.
“So if you’ve never been to Venus, does that mean you’ve never seen the Vex? Doesn’t seem like a good idea for the Vanguard to send you here.” Faye questioned Berrus over the team’s comm.
The question had been on Iden’s mind as well, but he figured Berrus would learn fast enough if she had never encountered the Vex.
“Oh I’ve fought them before.” the Warlock replied, “Just on Mars instead. I was there scouting Cabal traffic when I found myself fighting them. Creepy things they are.”
“Venus ain’t the same as Mars. One wrong step here, and you could find yourself drowning in a pool of radiolaria. You don’t want that happening.”
The three leaned into a turn that took them through an underpass and down a winding slope to the ruins of the Ishtar Academy. Buildings in despair lined the main street as they dismounted and walked their way past rusted and abandoned cars to the school’s main establishment.
They found themselves at the bottom of a set of stairs, and in front of them, the hulking statue of an angel. It’s wings were spread as if it were a guardian sent to protect the people from whatever darkness that dared to show itself. Green vines wrapped around the statue, and through its many cracks, tiny blooms spread to encase the rest of the angel. Nothing could’ve stopped the Darkness when it appeared for the first time. Not the mightiest of humanity’s weapons and certainly not a guardian angel. Iden looked at his fireteam and back to the statue.
Well not a guardian like that.
The team ascended the stairs. The entrance of the building was in shambles. Thick vines crept alongside the walls and the metal doors were jammed open. The white tiles that led up to the passage were stained brown with grime and dried pools of blood.
As they crossed the threshold, they found one side of the room had collapsed into a flooded underground maintenance passage. And as they followed it, they discovered it ascended into one of the school’s massive libraries.
Iden found the sight to be spectacular. Even though he was a Hunter and preferred to spend his time in the wilds instead of behind the pages of a book, he had to admit that the vast knowledge aging here within the pages of these texts slightly interested him. He knew it would be of interest to the Cryptarchs back at the tower, and they would love to get their hands on some of this stuff. Maybe he’d have Ordis transmat some of the books back to his ship to trade for glimmer back home.
Berrus seemed interested in the library as well. Before Iden could say anything, the Warlock was already making her way to one of the scores of shelves packed with knowledge. She carefully grabbed a book and began feeding from its words.
Warlocks. “You gonna go look at the books too?” Iden asked sarcastically to Faye.
The Titan turned suddenly as if brought back from her own random thoughts, “Nope.” Her face was an impossible read behind the silver tinted visor on her helmet, but to Iden, she sounded disinterested. As if this room was the last place she wanted to be. He figured she just wanted to punch something, anything really. Like a true Titan.
“Well then spread out and try to find a terminal to scan. See if the security systems here have pinged any recent activity.” Faye shrugged and nodded as she turned away and began her search.
The team didn’t find much in the library. After scouring every corner, they only came across a single console at the front of the room which Faye’s Ghost, Ari found. According to him, the console possessed an old program that the Academy researchers used to help them more effectively track Vex movement and activity across the planet. Iden figured it could come in handy for his team, and had Ari download and share the program to the other Ghosts.
There were plenty of other files on the terminal that the Ghost could not access however. Most curiously to Iden were a list of over fifty apparent journal entries authored by an M. Sundaresh. However, those files had unfortunately been corrupted and Ari was unable to retrieve them.
Despite their loss though, the Ghost assured them that he was picking up Vex activity further in the Academy, which was likely to be their target, and so the trio moved on.
Ari led them to the back of the library and through a series of corridors full of grass and vines. At the end of the final hallway was a set of double stairs leading outside to a massive common space between several of the Academy's structures.
The courtyard, which used to be full of concrete and vivid designs back in the Golden Age was now covered in dirt. And like the rest of the Academy, was covered top to bottom in lush greenery. At the center of the space, a skirmish was taking place between the Fallen of the House of Winter and the cold machines of the Vex.
It was difficult for the Hunter to tell who was winning, both sides seemed to be struggling with their position. But as Iden scanned the scene, he saw that the Vex weren’t just fighting the Fallen, they were protecting something: A conflux in the center of the room. The tower radiated bright in the daylight sky and the crescent-headed Goblins that surrounded it shot ravenously at the Eliksni who approached the pillar of energy.
“You think they know what that thing is?” asked Faye. She sounded doubtful of the Fallen’s intelligence.
“They might. Afterall, the House of Winter has been on Venus for quite some time now. It’d be odd if they didn’t pick anything up on their neighbors.” Berrus replied.
“Well either way,” Faye raised her hand cannon and checked the ammo loaded in it, “I assume we need that conflux?”
“You read my mind.” Iden smirked as he unslung the sniper rifle from his back, “Go secure that construct for me.” The Titan and Warlock burst forward into battle.
Iden looked to his left and saw a half wall at the top of the stairs he stood at. He decided that it was a good enough position to hunker down at, and sat his rifle on the railing. He peered through its scope and watched Faye and Berrus approach the construct. By now both enemy factions had spotted the duo and began shooting at their common enemy as they crossed the no man’s land. Arc and Solar beams crisscrossed the courtyard as the Guardians returned fire.
Four Goblins fell to pieces as Faye engaged with her cannon and Berrus her auto rifle. Iden watched as the Titan slid into position behind the tower of energy and summoned Ari while her partner stood and provided cover fire. Faye seemed to get into a brief argument with her Ghost before the small cube agreed to scan the pillar.
In the corner of his scope, Iden saw the bronze casing of two more Goblins flanking the conflux. The Hunter shifted his rifle slightly so its reticle hovered over the white square of liquid in the center of the Goblin and squeezed the trigger. The bullet penetrated with ease through what Adryel had always called “the juice box”, and radiolaria splashed across the grass under its feet. Iden twisted a few inches over and fired a second time, dismantling the other machine with a single bullet.
“The Vex are clear.” Iden called out over the comm.
An explosion rocked the earth. Iden turned his focus away from his team to the far side of the courtyard, and saw two squads of Fallen firing from a set of concrete pillars and the staircase beside them. At the top of the stairs floated the telltale purple eye of a servitor.
Iden was aware that the Traveler had once given the Eliksni a Golden Age of their own, and as a result, they worshiped the Traveler. But it bothered him to no end seeing one of these machines the Fallen had built in the Traveler’s image. Not only did they provide the necessary ether to a Fallen House, but they were also a nuisance in battle. He had seen them provide a form of energy shield to Dregs and Vandals during heavy contact situations, and that extra buffer was sometimes the difference between an easy kill, and another tick on a Guardian’s death card.
The center of the Servitor glowed a warm purple and a glob of void energy exploded forward to Iden’s teammates as the Captain to its right waved the order. The energy ball crossed much of the courtyard before it began losing altitude and exploded on the concrete floor a few meters from the conflux.
“Someone protect me!” Ari yelled as the construct shuddered. The Ghost was concerned with its safety, and rightfully so. It was a fragile piece of equipment that meant everything to a Guardian.
“Use the conflux as cover.” Faye answered back.
“Right.” the Ghost said, and resumed his scan as it rotated around the pillar to avoid the Fallen.
Faye scoffed. She seemed slightly annoyed that the little Light didn’t think of the idea itself. Iden chuckled to himself. He had to admit, sometimes Ghosts weren’t as smart as they appeared to be.
The Hunter stopped his sight directly on the Captain’s head. He knew they possessed energy shields. However, through dozens of tests, he had been able to determine they were not strong enough to stop the armor piercing rounds of this weapon.
The rifle barked and the Captain rolled down the stairs, headless.
Without their leader, the group of Fallen fell into disarray. More and more Dregs and Shanks collapsed to the floor and died from the combined fire of Berrus and Faye. The Warlock stood out from her cover behind a tree and hefted a rocket launcher over her shoulder. She fired once, and felt as the explosive jetted across the courtyard and impacted the Servitor dead center. The machine cracked into a dozen chunks and the resulting explosion consumed another two Vandals who were trying to refill on ether.
Berrus laughed in excitement as the dust settled and the remaining few Fallen turned away from the battle and hid behind the pillars.
“Got it!” Ari yelled in an excitement of his own. Iden turned to the construct and saw the Ghost disappear as the tower glowed brighter. The Hunter ejected the magazine from his rifle and slapped a new one in, before sliding it over his shoulder again and sprinting for the rest of his team.
“Any new information?” the Hunter asked as he came to a halt behind the conflux.
There was a brief silence as Ari processed the information, “This construct contained information regarding the Vex network across the region. According to this data, there is a Vex Axis Mind that has started to convert Venus into a machine world.”
“This Vex have a name?”
Another pause as the Ghost sifted through all the information, “Sekrion, the Nexus Mind. And according to the data, there is a massive cave network beneath us that should lead to Sekrion.”
“No we’re done here. Our mission was to find information on the Vex activity, and now we have our answer.”
“We can’t leave yet!” interjected Faye, “If that bastard is converting Venus we should stop it.”
“We don’t have the resources to fight that thing right now, which is why we’re the scouts.” Iden explained.
“We have the Light. What else could we need?” Berrus said in a sarcastic voice that indicated her willingness to go fight the Mind.
“Dangerous things can happen when we underestimate our opponents.” Iden said back. He was starting to get annoyed at their insistence. It was eating away at his own natural curiosity, but he knew better.
The conflux began to dim slowly. The team gathered and turned their eyes to the tower to watch as the pillar of data dissipated from the top downward. When the base disappeared, it revealed a deep hole in the concrete.
“Look! We have a starting point. The Vex are challenging us!” Berrus pointed to the hole leading into an abyss. It looked inviting.
“No! We go back to the Tower. If we get the ok from Ikora, we can come back here tomorrow.”
“I thought Hunters were supposed to be the adventurous ones. You scared?” Faye challenged.
Iden faced the Titan and stared at her. His eyes glowed a fiery orange. Part of him wanted to go down there, but his position as fireteam leader, and the things he’d heard about the Vex were forcing him to think about the welfare of his teammates.
“What if we don’t all make it? What if it’s too much for us?” He said revealing his true concern, “None of us are exactly the most experienced Guardian.”
“Guardians make their own fate.” Faye reassured, “We will be fine.”
A new voice interrupted the conversation. “Uh guys. Fallen reinforcements incoming.” It was Ordis.
The trio looked up and saw the bulbous shape of a House of Winter skiff descending into the courtyard. It fired its twin plasma cannons at the Guardians.
“I got it.” Faye sighed. A Suros rocket launcher pieced together in her hands. She hefted it with ease onto her shoulder, aimed, and fired. The rocket roared from its tube and impacted the underside of the ship.
The skiff rocked backwards slightly before listing forward to the left and was put onto a collision course with the fireteam. Iden turned to Faye and his mouth drooped. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think she did that on purpose.
He looked back to the flaming skiff and watched it crash to the ground and begin sliding through the concrete tiles towards them.
“Well who could’ve predicted that?” Faye said in a blatantly fake, surprised voice, “Guess we gotta go down.” She jumped in the hole without another word.
Berrus looked at Iden for a brief second, “I guess this is happening.” she jumped too.
Iden looked at his surroundings and hoped this wasn’t the last time he was above ground before stepping into the abyss.
Whatever the outcome, so long as he survived, this was bound to be a story to tell the next time he was in a Hunter’s den.

Chapter 14: First Fruits

"One of these days, I may actually have enough free time to attend the Hamathi Alliance University until then I'll just have to work with them and play with their equipment."
— William Kidd, AC, GCS, AFRL/Matrix, HAU-UNM

Everything Takes Time

"Well?!?"
"Take it easy, Kidd! They just fired the shot, it's going to take a while to get the response!"
"Sorry, Sorry, I'm just..."
"So excited to find out if your baby actually works. I fully understand. I was on tenterhooks with my first project too. It still doesn't do anything to the laws of physics, at least not in normal space. Although, I've heard people wondering about this new Matrix Gun effect. If the pipeline shrinks linearly from the source end to the target end, one fellow figures that we have at least the first half of a matter transporter."
"Except converting the entire body to a waveform that fits in the tunnel, carrying all the energy and information needed to reassemble the body, is beyond us even with Hamathi technology."
"Not quite the way he meant it. He thinks it's possible to create a, for want of a better word, "portal" that allows a human to enter the pipe as they are, and pop out at the other end unchanged, undamaged, and have traveled at least light-speed if not FTL."
"Does he need a receiver station?"
"Well, he's still working on that part. Maybe yes, maybe no."
... A thirty or so minute discussion on the possibilities of the tube ...
"Ah, here come the results, only they're about 7.5 seconds early. I'd say you've fallen well short of the necessary distance, either that, or there's something wrong with the targeting."
"Damn."
"Don't be so down, you're still getting good data."
"Well?!?!"
"Looks like... Yes, the light curve is precisely as predicted and within two kilometers of the target point, as well as we can tell at that distance anyway. As it stands, that's a VPE Radius of 2 kilometers giving a 33.51 cubic kilometer volume.
"Damn... I'd hoped for 0.5 kilometers; two kilometers is way too much room for a target to dodge."
"Aw, that's just a small matter of program management. Gotta find the right tech to goose into doing what you need."
"I'll keep that in mind."

Sensors And Spice

"So, Tyler, are you ready for your next lesson?"
"I'm tempted to say no, just to see what you say, Scans."
"I would say that ends your lessons entirely."
"Which would absolutely destroy me, but probably please my wife since I would be spending more time with her than with you."
"Our spouses are ever the most desired allocation of our time, and yet so seldom receive as much time as either party wishes."
"All too true... Scans? I've hesitated to ask, but..."
"I have a spouse, or as the saying goes, I have spice. They are with me now, as we speak."
"With you now? I don't mean to insult, but I am curious."
"Ah, yes, how are we all together in this one place. The usual question for a species that skipped the independent organs phase and went straight to completely integrated."
"You are a true colony organism?"
"Yes."
"I'm having trouble figuring out how that works. I mean, I know human bodies are effectively heavily integrated colony organisms with beneficial microbiota. Still, I could never figure out how a more loosely organized colony would store and access it's decision centers wherever the physical body joins the organism."
"In a way, I have the reverse issue with your arrangement. Everything is so fixed in position. There must be many times that a different organization would be more efficient."
"Oh, yes, agreed. The breathing and eating apparatus is particularly problematic. We share tubing at a critical juncture and depend on a small flap of flesh to close the lungs off from the digestive system. Sometimes this doesn't work very well.
"Back on what I meant, if you are a colony organism and have spice, I'm assuming that each spouse at least starts with independent intelligence and existence. And that somehow, if they are with you now, they integrate with you to create a gestalt being?"
"A masterful summation, mostly. My spice have independent intelligence and existence. It is I who only appear when my spice cooperate with each other. They are the basis of my life. Should my spice have a severe disagreement, I would cease to exist. However, there are benefits. If one spouse should suffer a fatality, I would be disrupted until another spouse could be found... Excuse me, they are not happy with the direction this conversation is taking. A moment of...
"Yes, yes, I was speaking hypothetically! ... Of course not! ... No, I love each and every one of you for yourselves. ... I can make only one suggestion to that. Dissolve the partnership. ... No. I do not want to, but neither do I wish to cause each of you distress. If you are so distressed that you cannot tolerate it, I yield my existence for your health. I only exist if you are happy with me and with each other. I cannot live if you are unhappy with me or each other. ... Do you wish to consider restructuring? ... I think it would be terrible for our integration with the Alliance and the people we have come to know, but if it's the only way for you to be happy? ... One moment please, our guest is becoming disturbed.
"Ah, as you can see, spice can sometimes be a bit too heated.
"No! Don't take it that way! ... Good deities all! Do what humans do! ... When a male human says something to a female human, and there is more than one way to take it, the female should take it in the best possible way! ... Yes, human males often have communications difficulties with females."
"If I may give a human male perspective?"
"Yes! Please!"
"Scans is correct. Communicating with a female of the species is fraught with difficulties unless there is either a professional relationship or a solid, well-founded personal relationship. Even in the latter, there can be moments of confused communication. That is where the "please take it in the best possible way" request came from. Males and females express things differently, and a male can easily (from the female perspective) say something that can be taken in a bad way by the female. This leaves the male wondering what he did wrong, and the female fuming because we have no clue what we did wrong. Since both sides (normally) consider that counterproductive, the male suggestion that you take it in the best possible way is accepted more often than not. With time, you gain knowledge of your mate and how to express things. With Time! May I ask, how long have you been spice?"
"Approximately three Earth years."
"Then you should definitely be using the "take it in the best way possible" rule. You haven't been together long enough to figure out everything."
"Ah, but some spice are male, and some are female."
"Then you have a triple problem, and you adapt the rule to fit. No one should take anything in any way other than the best possible. If you do have an issue with what was said, do not elevate it to an emotional argument. Try to keep it calm and find out what was really meant. Assuming is the absolute worst thing you could do. We have a saying about Assume. "Assume makes an Ass out of you and me." A play on words based on breaking the word into three, one, and two letters.
"Scans?"
"Yes, Tyler?"
"Joanne is never going to believe this. Marriage counseling for a true colony organization where the outward-facing sentient has existence only so long as the marriage survives."
"Do you think she might have a different perspective?"
"Scans, Spice, I absolutely guarantee that she will have a different perspective. Maybe we can get you a rather well-known book "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus." It has a human perspective on the problem, but it may be useful. Shall I ask her?"
"The... consensus is yes. We would also like the book."
"Scans? Something you said a long time ago, about how having more than one person operating scans resulted in missed danger. You were talking about two of your species, weren't you?"
"Why, yes. Scans is our job because we do it best."
"Scans, how much of your exceptional ability is due to your spice adjustment to each other?"
"A large part of it, a huge part of it."
"And the two entities assigned to scanning together? How long had they worked together?"
"Oh, dear... It's a multi-dimensional problem even with one spice collective, with two? I'll have to take time to think about that with my spice. Oh, Tyler? My spice thank you, they've been somewhat bored without any multi-dimensional problems to consider."
"You are all welcome. Do you wish to postpone the lesson for today?"
"I think... WE think that would be an excellent idea. We have much to consider."
"This is something that works for humans, "start from the position that you love each other."
"Our thanks."

Spice? Spouse?

"Joanne? I think I sprained Scans' brain. Or should I say brains?"
"Brains?"
"He, She, or It, is a loosely organized colony organism. Scans, as such, only exists when his spice are in agreement with each other."
"Spice? As in the plural of spouse?"
"Indeed. He used the term himself."
"He... is Scans really "he"?"
"I'm not going to touch that question. He has always responded to the gender nouns consistently as male, so that's what I'm going with. In any case, I've volunteered you to give Scans the human female perspective on certain subjects. If we can lay hands on a copy of "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus," Scans and his spice would appreciate it."
"They have two sexes?"
"I'll answer that this way, at least two. Three if you count Scans personality, which arises from the collection of spice. If they have a major disagreement, Scans, as such, ceases to exist. This can also happen if they lose too many spice, although there was an indication that they have some backup capability for Scans, at least if only one is lost. That is what set of the whole explosion of discussion between Scans, his spice, and me with my thumb fingered understanding of such things."
"Don't worry, dear, I'll fix whatever damage you did."
"Damage? I think I gave Scans a pretty good impression of the male position."
"That's what I said, dear, damage."
"You're smiling. How about we go explore that smile in depth."
"I thought you'd never ask."

Sensor Training For Dummies II

"Tyler! Time to get in that lesson that we missed last time. Please, no digressions this time, we need to keep your development going."
"Very well."
"I assume that you have spent the usual time acclimating to the dark?"
"I have, although I wonder if it's truly acclimating to the dark. It might be better to say that I am acclimating to a different kind of light. A kind that does not necessarily activate my retina in the same way that the narrow band of "visible" light does."
"Very good! I was wondering when you might come to that conclusion."
"I think it comes from your spice."
"Yes."
"They are the source of your incredible sensitivity."
"Yes."
"I am a single entity. Yet while my organs are closely integrated, they still have functions that are quite independent."
"So, I am given to understand."
"I wonder what sort of training would allow me to ... talk?... with each of them separately?"
"That is key to the next level. You will need to search out that method for yourself or find another route. You are human, we are not. Our means may not work for you, as your means may not work for us."
"All too true. I'll have to think about this, and maybe talk with Dr. Ymir. Our medical doctors get outright stuffy when you try to talk about things like this. If they can't measure it reliably, they don't want to deal with it."
"At least you already have proof of what they would call extraordinary ability."
"I may need to set up some demonstrations to get them to agree."
"Take your time. You'll likely get only one chance to convince them. We flubbed that chance, and it took decades to get the Hamathi to listen again."
"Well, we have one thing on our side."
"That being?"
"You exist, and the Hamathi know what you can do. If I flub the first demo, that should get me an easy second chance. After that, though? That's going to be rough, so I'll try to get it right the first time."
"Do or do not; there is no try."
"Holy... How did you get to watch that movie?"
"Your troops had a movie night. It was a fine night, so they set up a large screen against the wall of my home, with my permission. Between the brightness of the projector and the sound system's volume, just enough made it through the walls to be easily followed. An excellent story with many good aphorisms for life."
"I'll speak with the HAU/Engineering school, and see if we can come up with something that's less trouble and more enjoyable.

Time Pays Off The Gamble

"Well?!?"
"Kidd, did we not have this discussion last time?"
"Yes, and I don't care! Well!?!"
"We cannot know... How the hell?!? Those results shouldn't be in for another 15 minutes!"
"Well!?"
"Perfect light curve and the VPE is... Holy Hanna! ... zero! How'd you manage that!"
"You gave me the idea."
"I did?"
"Yes, I had to find the right tech to goose into doing what we needed."
"Wow, that's one hell of a tech! Who was it?"
"Chief Tyler."
"You didn't reach for a tech, you reached for a magician."
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
"You are aware of the corollary?"
"No, I didn't think it had one."
"Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology."
"That's... weird... but true. Tyler is part of the military, I wonder how they're going to accept their first Technomage."
"Good name."

The Technomage Vs. The JCS

...
"General Mortimer, I do not care what it is called. I only state, and have recently proven that it works as described. The majority of the work came from my lessons with Scans and his spice. I use the terminology that I have been taught that Scans and I have worked out, and I find that it is an excellent match with what I do. The fact that you find it objectionable is irrelevant, Sir.
"If this body chooses not to make use of this ability, that is its loss. I will serve with the Alliance with the same dedication that I have always served the United States. After all, I will still be protecting the United States, just not under the command of idiots."
"That's not only insolent; it's a direct statement of intent to abandon your post."
"Be that as it may, General Mortimer, it is what I will do if my leadership is blind. The terminology used is of no concern to a race that faces interstellar locusts that will strip our entire system bare of all resources including the human race."
"If some of us become slaves..."
"No, General. Not slaves. Food. Having spoken with Scans extensively, and less so with Bo'sun Gryul, I have no doubt that the Mogri are as stated: exclusively carnivorous, and cannibalistic at need." deep breath Calm. Calm. Well, as calm as you can manage facing this twit. "General Mortimer, have you read any of the life support requirements for a fleet the size described? How many gigatons of food they would need to carry? How many beings they carry? The length of the voyages? The calculations that show they would still run out of food before the end of the voyage? How do you suppose they manage to survive as a species?
"No. You haven't, I can see it in your eyes.
"Gentlemen of the JCS. You each have a copy of my presentation, and the report of the devices that I constructed using the information I gained from the training. Those devices are so far beyond what we have that they might as well be called technical magic, and keep this in mind: I can best those devices with our standard gear." A pause. Mostly amused looks at Mortimer. "Sirs. My presentation is complete. I have much to do. I bid you all a good day."
"You hold on right there! We're done when we say we're done."
"General Mortimer, if you require a personal demonstration, I can provide it. I must warn you, Sir, that it will be personally humiliating to you."
"Tyler, if you say one word..."
"General, In your left trouser pocket, you have your keys, including a fob from a certain establishment. In your right trouser pocket, you are carrying a set of prophylactics. In your jacket inside the left pocket, a pen from a well-known corporation. Sir, if I was caught with that pen, I would be in Leavenworth in two finger snaps. Why in God's name, you choose to wear it to these meetings is beyond me. Sir. Shall I continue?"
"Lies!"
"Mr. Chairman! I have made my call. If you want me to continue within the United States of America Armed Forces framework, you will act NOW!"
"sigh Tyler, I was warned about you, and I see that the warnings were correct. You will not suffer fools above you if you know that they are going to make terrible mistakes. General Mortimer, you have disparaged the work being presented, on specious grounds, despite having been shown several demonstrations of the effectiveness of the devices presented. You now have two choices, empty your pockets or resign.
"I would like to point out to everyone that this meeting is classified Top Secret. Sharing any part of what happens in this meeting with anyone, unless it is part of an official report authorized by the Chair, constitutes a breach of security. The full penalty of both the UCMJ and federal law will fall upon the perpetrator. Yes. This applies even if General Mortimer resigns. No. I am not joking.
"General?"
"I... sigh Tyler, you are a miserable pain in the ass, who will sooner or later end up in more trouble than you can handle."
"Sir, I have no doubt that you are correct. Yet I must do as I believe is in the best interests of the country that I serve, regardless of whatever trouble it may land me in."
"Or anyone else... Mr. Chairman, fellow officers, Chief Tyler's summation is entirely accurate. At the least, I should not have worn the pen. Mr. Chairman. With your permission, I will return it today. I received it yesterday, and could not stand the thought of sending it back. Chief Tyler? Can you comment on my veracity?"
"I do not have as much practice with human emotions as I have with inanimate objects, but... I would say that you are telling the truth. General? I don't wish you ill, but the Chairman is right. I cannot accept leadership that refuses to listen to a warning. A warning that, if ignored, would lead to many pointless deaths."
"Point taken. Mr. Chairman. Chief Tyler is correct. It would be best if I resigned. I have too many flaws and not enough virtues."
"No, General Mortimer, you will not resign. You and I will discuss where we may best make use of your abilities. As our civilian leadership has done, so do we now. This matter is closed.

The Sensor Corp

"General Mortimer! They gave you this command?"
"Yes, Chief Tyler, they did. I suspect it's to test my resolve. Now, I understand that Scans has some pretty stiff standards for who he will accept and who he will not. We need some sort of test that will winnow out those who simply will not do, with a minimum of false negatives. Any ideas?"
"Sir? For my own skill set, which is primarily visual, yes, I can probably knock something out that will be a decent first cut. But for the other skill sets? I'll need to work with Scans and some volunteers. My immediate suggestion is that you contact the NCO grapevine, for any stories of unusual circumstances where a single soldier insisted on something sense-based and was later proven right."
"You mean along the lines of "I know there are Tangos on the other side of the river because I can feel them."
"That's one way, Sir. Or the people who can find their way through any terrain, and never get lost in foul weather or can fly without instruments through foggy mountains without splatting. Anything that stands out."
"Tyler? I never did get the story on how you figured out they were crashing."
"Sir, I don't think I could explain it clearly now. I'm looking at the same scope image as my partner. The ship is dropping what everyone else thinks is bombs, but it didn't make sense. Why start bombing over the North Atlantic? So I stared harder at my scope, looking for something to explain what was happening. In the light from that scope, I saw the pieces falling off. I didn't see the ship, just that green on black image, and the traces of the plates falling away. Near as I can figure, everyone else was waiving them off as noise. Now, Sir? I'm wondering if they ever even saw them at all."
"Well, I have another request. I'm not very well tied in with the NCO grapevine, having never been an NCO, or in a real combat command. I understand that you've recently been through every NCO training school we have, and they all gave you top marks. I'd appreciate it if you would travel to those schools in person to speak with the trainers. They're likely to have heard every strange story, and you're the best person to pick out the ones that may be what we need. If nothing else, it'll give you some guinea pigs to test with Scans."

Space Time Conundrum

"James?"
"Yes, William?"
"I've been thinking about the sensor gear that Tyler's group whipped up for us."
"So have I, that stuff is wonderful."
"Yes, James, it is. How did it get the results back fifteen minutes early?"
"Fifteen... minutes... early... You mean that you got the results back, fifteen minutes before light would have made the same journey?"
"Yes, exactly that."
"William, that's FTL. That isn't possible."
"James, I saw it happen, that makes it possible."
